Trainee Teaching Assistant

Grangetown Area

£10.50 - £11.00 per hour

8:30am - 3:30pm -Monday to Friday

A tight knit and diverse primary school with academic excellence in the Grangetown area, is searching for a trainee teaching assistant to join them in September. This position is for the whole academic year, therefore you will be in the school until July 2023. They have a hands-on approach to learning and welcome any new ideas, therefore having a creative personality is highly beneficial in this role.

As you will be a trainee, you will have experience in all year groups to make sure you feel fully comfortable and competent to work with any age. This will also include working on a 1:1 basis with a variety of children with additional needs, who need educational and social support.

As this is a trainee position you do not need any formal qualifications for this role.

Main duties of this role:

Supporting children of primary school ages with their classwork within the classroom.
Assisting the class teacher with outdoor activities, for example, outdoor art projects or using recycled materials to build new creations.
Assisting with physical education lessons - playing a variety of sports with the children, for example, football, netball, hockey and rugby.
Intervention work - Reading with small groups of children (This will be later on after you have more experience in the role)
Helping to give out snacks at break time and preparing the classroom in the break time for the next lesson.
About you:

A keen desire to learn and to get stuck into the role
Experience with children previously - This can be professionally or from your personal experience.
Enjoy working with a wide range of children from the nursery class to the year 6 class
Have a caring and patient personality and wanting to make a difference everyday to the children.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
