Moxi Recruitment are currently looking for a Construction Teacher to work at one of our partner schools in the Bury area. This post is ideal for a person looking for a fresh challenge in an inspiring learning environment and will suit a candidate who has the commitment, passion and resilience to make a difference to pupils who have a range of social, emotional, mental health and special educational needs.

As a Construction Teacher you will be expected to:

Teach/assess learners Construction skills and knowledge to learners within a classroom setting.
Ensure sessions are motivating, engaging and develop learners' skills knowledge and behaviours
Monitor student attendance and progress through regular student assessment and reviews.
Provide advice and guidance to learners relating to decision making and progression.
Embedding of Maths and English into sessions.
Overcome barriers to learning and adapt delivery to meet learner's needs.
Organisational skills are a must, as well as the ability to plan your time effectively
Confident and professional with the ability to inspire and motivate young people.
Deliver effective and engaging lessons for pupils in low attaining groups
Plan thoroughly and teach effectively, all lessons that promote the development of abilities and aptitudes of all pupils in classes and groups assigned, enabling them to make good or better progress.
Differentiate and personalise planning and teaching to ensure the achievement of all learners.
Maintain high levels of behaviour using positive intervention strategies
Work in partnership with additional adults, planning together as appropriate and directing the support to have maximum impact on the learning of pupils.
Promote the general progress and well-being of individual pupils
Liaise with the Line Manager/Mentor to ensure the implementation of the school's pastoral system
Contribute to the preparation of Individual plans and/or behaviour support plans
Alert appropriate staff to any problems experienced by pupils
Communicate as appropriate with parents/carers of pupils outside of the school concerned with the welfare of individuals, after consultation with appropriate staff
Always operate within the stated policies and practices of the school, including professional duties
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of good practice in teaching techniques
You will have a subject specialism and you can contribute to the curriculum planning, you may also be required to take account of wider curriculum developments
Undertake professional development to enhance teaching and pupils' learning
Maintain the positive ethos and core values of the school, both inside and outside the classroom

Skills and attributes:

A Level 3 qualification or relevant NVQ (or equivalent) in any of the following construction trades (Electrical, Bricklaying, Carpentry & Joinery, Plumbing, Painting & Decorating) Level 4 Teaching Qualification: Certificate in Education/ PGCE/Bachelor of Education or required to achieve Level 5 Diploma (DTLLS)
A proven track record of exceptional practice, who is able to work with vulnerable pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH).
It would suit an individual who is passionate about making a real difference to student's life chances and supporting them in achieving their potential in essential life skills.
The ability to be creative and use imaginative flair to engage
Resilience, drive and high expectations to inspire students to achieve.
Presence, passion and a commitment to inclusion
Hold Level 2 qualifications in Functional Skills English and Maths or GCSE equivalents.
Must be IT Literate.
Full, clean, UK driving licence and access to own vehicle. Must be flexible with travel.
