We are currently looking for a Learning Support Assistant to work with young people with Social Emotional and Mental Health Needs at a specialist school in Bexley.

The Role

In this role you will be supporting a range of students on a 1 to 1 basis and in groups during a range of academic and vocational lessons. You will be working with students who have SEMH needs due to family issues, loss of a parent, gang culture etc. and must be confident in supporting young people with these experiences. The school are ideally looking for a learning support assistant who has experience in youth work, mentoring or community support or within a similar school setting.

You need to have a positive and resilient approach with the ability to build relationships and de-escalate situations.

This role is offered on a temp to perm contract with an immediate start.

The School

This specialist Academy in Bexley provides high quality education and support to pupils in Key Stages 1-4, who have been permanently excluded or are at risk of exclusion from their mainstream school. Alongside the main site the school also provide a short-term provision for learners, who are unable to attend school because of a medical need. The aim for pupils in KS1 - 3 is to re-integrate the learners back into a mainstream or specialist school. The leadership and teaching team work closely with external agencies to identify the needs of individual children and to develop their ability to learn and build confidence in the classroom. The dedicated and experienced leadership team have worked hard to create an atmosphere of mutual respect and resilience to support students to grow in a positive way.
