We are currently recruiting for an experienced Product Manager to work for our client at their facility in Buckinghamshire, the role will be working closely with the Lead Project Manager and be involved in executing allocated projects on time, to budget and to the customers' expectations working closely within the Power, Nuclear and O&G industries.
This is an interesting role and would suit someone with a strong customer relationship exposure and stakeholder engagement, who is able to communicate well and take full ownership of a range of bespoke projects.
Involved in managing and supporting all projects to maximise value, on time delivery and client satisfaction, along with managing all customer changes including securing variation orders.
Management of projects proactively, and all mitigation of risks and ensure profitability and customer expectations are met.
Work collaboratively across the full value chain, from clients to suppliers, able to understand their working methods and requirements, and manage interactions such as drawing approvals, witness testing, transportation, documentation, third party requirements and importantly changes to timetables and technical specifications.
Act as the point of contact between the client and the company, promoting a professional approach at all times.
Recognise, present and negotiate variations with the customer using internal specialists as required.
Develop a suitable contract programme and ensure that the contract activities are carried out to meet the programme requirements.
Responsible for the customer contact post order and all liaison internally to ensure Quality, On-time delivery and costs are in full control across all departments.
Assist in responding and answering any customer questions and internal queries by putting people together as required, and be the customers voice internally, and influence the result, plan and monitor.
Involved in customer and supplier visits, this will include, but not limited to, managing customer complaints, supporting sales activities, inspection of special items from suppliers and face to face meetings with the customer.
Lead the communication across all involved departments and provide feedback along with advising customers of delays and additional costs as required and appropriate following co-ordination with the responsible salesperson and management.
Simple technical details to be checked specifically including scope of supply, the correct customer specifications and drawings are available with copies being made available plus any special requirements, special features and contractual conditions.
Involved in checks in accordance with the project programme to avoid delay, and liaise with Sales/Application and, if necessary, the customer to resolve any differences from both a technical and commercial perspective.
Check the costs once the above has been completed, ensuring all major items have been included. Confirm the main materials, inspection and certification are in accordance with the agreed scope of supply. With experience the expectation is that this will become a more detailed check.
Complete comprehensive contract reviews and report findings and recommendations
Involved at handover, the position will require you to ensure the Applications Department have completed all necessary data and that the programme is achievable.
Involved with Quality, OTD and costs are critical measures throughout the stages, and these areas need to be managed effectively to ensure customer expectations are met.
Establish the contract budgets and then monitor/control resources and purchasing to meet the budget requirements.
Key dates from the programme are to be proactively monitored, with responsible departments being chased to meet their commitments. The Project Manager must liaise internally with departments within the business and externally with customers for approvals and inspections if required with the focus being to meet all key milestone dates.
Qualifications & Education:
Minimum of an HNC/HND in a relevant Engineering subject
Excellent communication skills in order to build strong relationships and engage with various stakeholders including clients, suppliers and staff.
High resilience and adaptability to deal constructively with conflicting priorities and setbacks.
Commercially focussed, with an eye for detail.
Strong analytical skills to develop, analyse and provide commentary on project plans and performance.
Strong IT competence - Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Knowledge of ERP systems would be beneficial.
