Integrate UK is a youth led charity that invests in the skills, passions and talents of marginalised, socio-economically challenged young people to nurture future leaders who promote our vision of gender and racial equality, integration and community cohesion.

From a small, local voluntary group Integrate UK has grown to a national, multi award winning charity increasingly run by representatives from the groups with whom we work. We are looking for a new Treasurer to continue our development.

What will you be doing?

Our youth board meets monthly and steers our work and informs our approach. Our approach to achieving our young people's ambitious vision is multifold, focussing on tackling the ongoing inequalities associated with race and gender, including access, participation, attainment, discrimination and all forms of violence and abuse against women and girls (VAAWG).

The overall role of a Treasurer is to maintain an overview of the organisation’s affairs, ensure its financial viability and ensure that proper financial records and procedures are maintained.

What are we looking for?

In addition to the person specification for a trustee, the treasurer should have the following qualities:

  • Financial qualifications and experience Some experience of charity finance, fundraising and pension schemes The skills to analyse proposals and examine their financial consequences Being prepared to make unpopular recommendations to the board A willingness to be available to staff for advice and enquiries on an ad hoc basis

We are particularly looking for trustees from diverse backgrounds as it's important to us that our board reflects our beneficiary cohort.

What difference will you make?

Despite facing multiple disadvantages and often having direct experience of the issues we address, our young people go from being vulnerable to becoming agents of change and future leaders within their communities and the wider society. Their achievements have included influencing policy, advising Prime Ministers, Ministers and the former UN Secretary General, winning national and international awards and transforming their educational achievements. Many have won prestigious local and national awards including an Honorary Doctorate, a Woman of the Year award and four Diana awards. All go onto further education, despite many being the first in their family to attend university and several not even speaking English when they first join us.

Time commitment

4 full board meetings annually and occasional sub-group/working group planning sessions

Before you apply

Please apply through Reach in the first instance. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete our additional application form.
