REPORTING TO: Brand & Marketing Manager
HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours per week + occasional weekend and late
1. PURPOSE OF THE JOB
1.1 To work as part of our team of in-house designers within the Brand Marketing team
(and freelancers and advertising agencies where relevant), to provide a design
service to Associates (staff) and Instructors (franchisees) across Kumon Europe
1.2 Responsibilities include but are not limited to concept generation, design and
artwork for online and print ads, posters, artwork for social media, commercial
signage for our study centres, manuals, newsletters, brochures, Prezi and
PowerPoint templates and typesetting leaflets.
2. LINE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
2.1 None at present, but this may be reviewed in the future.
3. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
3.1 To produce creative solutions to communicate our key messaging and increase
visibility of our brand.
3.2 To prepare and format artwork for delivery to our various suppliers.
3.3 To maintain digital and manual filing systems of past and present artwork and
artwork documentation, such as up-to-date media release consent forms.
3.4 To maintain consistency in branding, adhering to the Kumon brand guidelines and
input of the design team.
3.5 To ensure quality of materials is maintained by all areas of the business.
3.6 To provide creative ongoing proposals, ideas and solutions to better communicate
the brand to all relevant audiences/markets.
3.7 To be able to communicate the reasons behind design decisions and creative
directions as required.
3.8 To meet project managers to discuss briefs, ascertain project objectives and the
requirements of the job.
3.9 To interpret briefs and provide innovative design concepts to suit their purpose.
3.10 To think creatively in order to produce new ideas and provide a fresh approach to
existing material, transferring basic designs into eye catching creative solutions.
3.11 To communicate directly with Associates, Instructors and suppliers to give input on
design, layout and production of marketing and communications materials.
3.12 To liaise with printers, project managers, designers, agency personnel and other
marketing specialists on projects to ensure all quotes and delivery times are
3.13 To keep all parties updated with news on delivery of printed items as appropriate
and chase as necessary to make sure items arrive on time.
3.14 To manage, prioritise and schedule a varied work load.
3.15 To meet on a regular basis (weekly when feasible) with the other in-house
designers to discuss project work and schedules.
3.16 To regularly keep the Brand & Marketing Manager updated (and other relevant
management members where appropriate) of any concerns, issues and/or
developments within the remit of your activities.
3.17 To attend supervision, training, and meetings as and when required. There may be
a necessity for these to be outside of normal working times and at weekends.
3.18 To participate and take an active role in projects and events to meet business
needs, even when these duties go outside of the usual remit of your role.
3.19 To work overtime as and when required in order to meet business needs.
3.20 To work with, abide by and positively promote all KEA's policies and/or procedures
and management decisions.

any other senior management member
