The Role

A permanent role initially to support the risk management and financial control team in the project to implement aspects of the BEIS Corporate Reform proposals ('Restoring trust in audit and corporate governance'), particularly relating to putting in place a complete programme of internal controls over financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process mapping of various functional and financial areas of the business, with clear identification of potential risks and existing/required internal controls, with particular regards to internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Producing a detailed risk and control matrix for the above areas.
  • Identifying areas without adequate controls and working with business owners to enhance processes with additional controls as required to ensure risks are appropriately mitigated.
  • Supporting any associated risk management and controls system implementation in a business analyst capacity.
  • Support other required areas in the implementation of the Corporate Reforms.
  • Managing our half yearly review of internal controls and supporting business declarations.
  • Being part of and providing support to the wider Risk Management and Internal Controls team, as required.


Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent (2:1 or above)
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Visio, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience in Financial Control and/or Risk Management
  • Experience in process mapping, including risk and control identification
  • Experience in assessing the design and operational effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA or similar) preferential
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Must be able to self-manage and prioritise own workload to meet deadlines
  • Ability to produce well thought through, clearly laid out and expressed schedules and papers
  • Ability to communicate confidently with property and non-property professionals
  • Comfortable working on a "big picture" or highly detailed basis
