Role - Technical Project Manager

Reporting to the CTO with additional reporting line to the CIO, The Technology Project Management function is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of the firm's next generation technology platform working with a team of outstanding engineers. This is a major strategic technology delivery project building out the current industry-leading, purpose-built platform which underpins the whole business, bringing accurate intelligence day to day.

The role will encompass two areas of technology delivery:

working in partnership with existing Project Managers, to complement and extend our existing project management capabilities on this flagship technology project
extending coverage of technology project management capabilities to ensure that all aspects of technology delivery are expertly managed.You will be coordinating in-house engineers, strategists and information security specialists who are continuously evolving the company proprietary technology and developing new solutions for the future using the latest innovations. You will work as part of the technology leadership team, with regular interaction with senior executives across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

Project planning, tracking and reporting
Lead planning, delivery, resource management, financial management, governance, reporting, prioritisation support and the development & maintenance of required project controls, documentation and tools
Effectively manage stakeholders (both internal and external) and teams across the programme
Accountability for making change happen through your own delivery and the delivery of others
Analysis of project tracking data to produce management information / KPIs to bring insights that support optimisation or de-risking of the project delivery
Develop materials to support visibility of the project to the Executive, Board and other stakeholders
Develop robust controls to support that visibility including the process for future estimates in conjunction with the senior team leads and CTO
Provide challenge and support to key internal stakeholders to ensure the programme and work-stream outcomes are achieved
Skills Knowledge and Experience:

Experience of working in Investment Banking technology projects working with Quant Dev and Strats
Proven strategic level Project/Programme Management experience in delivering a complex technology programme or portfolio of change using agile ways of working
Ability to identify and fix project issues in work-streams that are experiencing problems
Ability to add value to projects by understanding what is being delivered, the implications of the risks and issues, helping to identify interventions required to protect desired outcomes.
Be comfortable with ambiguity in an environment where plans can change rapidly
Well-rounded with energy, personal impact and resilience, with the ability to quickly build rapport with senior stakeholders
Knowledge of development life cycles, design, configuration, testing and deployment of new technologies
Project management and PMO methodologies including Agile
Extensive work experience in a complex environment managing technology projects
Past experience as a software engineer would likely be very helpful in this role, although this is not considered essential
Technical experience of development planning tools (JIRA and Confluence)
High degree of knowledge of managing technology project controls and control environments
Some risk management, pensions and/or insurance knowledge is preferred but not essential
