MMP Consultancy are currently recruiting for a Service Charge Officer on a temporary basis, based in London.

The Service Charge Officer will report to the Rents, Service Charge and Homeownership Lead, review the service charges for customers and provide timely and accurately information. Act as a business partner supporting Housing, Property Services, Finance, Development and IT Teams.

Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the annual setting of Service Charge Estimates and Actuals for customers, this is primarily for homeowners but will require some involvement with other tenures
* Help with ensuring the annual service charge notices are completed and issued correctly and within statutory deadlines some work relating to rents will be required which relates to systems and data. Carrying out financial analysis and working with the finance team
* Good record keeping for each of the scheme service charges. Ensuring that ledgers, invoices, accounts, receipts and any other relevant information is collated so that Section 22 requests can be promptly dealt within tight timescales
* Identify any variances monthly and highlight if these are accurate. Work with the Assistant Accountant to ensure any journals and legers are kept up to date for each month end specifically relating to service charge costs
* Help in the creation of any long term agreements via Section 20 Consultation, if required assist with qualifying works which links to service charge capping
* Keeping customers updated and within service standards resolve issues by providing information and liaising with relevant teams where required
* Act as a subject lead for block management accounting, ensuring that all teams across the organisation provide information that helps towards accurate charging

Key Knowledge & Experience:
* Experience of rent and service charge setting for various tenures inclusive of homeowners and tenants
* Excellent customer service and ensuring that emails, telephones and letters are responded to within 10 working days
* Updating systems with data and ensuring this is done accurately
* Knowledge of relevant law such as Landlord and Tenant Act 1985, Rent Standard
* Intermediate level of Excel
* Section 20 Consultation experience both with Long Term Agreements and Qualifying Works
* Some experience of working with lease extensions, Right to acquire, staircasing and other relevant Homeownership tasks
* Comfortable going out on site to meet with Leaseholders face to face
