We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as a Performance Subject Matter Expert, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets

Role Purpose

The purpose of this role is to lead a number of teams of processors and/or checkers to ensure that transactions are processed accurately and that transactions are passed without defects

In this role, you will:
  • Be using performance/attribution software, create, quality control and distribute monthly results for all clients, to agreed levels, formats and deadlines. Provide further analyses as requested by recipients, and explain and present the calculations and results as required
  • Update monthly fund benchmarks, incorporating changes to asset allocation or structure. Manage relationships with external benchmark data providers, ensuring the Performance team is kept up to date with forthcoming market and index developments and inwardly communicating these to the team
  • Manage Performance team relationships with MSS clients' senior management, investment managers, third party Relationship and Distribution teams as requested, providing support and analysis for HSS clients' internal and external meetings, pitches, surveys and regular client reports. Arrange and conduct regular and adhoc service review and update meetings with Performance team clients and, where appropriate, attend internal and external operational meetings
  • Manage the Performance team's relationships with external agencies, including accurate and timely provision of investment data, interpretation and analysis of results and resolution of service issues. Proactively build successful, commercial relationships with them, including input to vendor fee arrangements, as required, and the management of budgets
  • Adhere to MSS clients' service level agreements, internally and upwardly communicating delays and issues. Manage the production of regular internal reports for management information, including the calculation of KPI's

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
  • The Performance Measurement & Risk SME works under considerable pressure at quarter end, as the deliverables of the position are time critical and used for clients' investment and strategic management decisions, internal and external meetings and sales pitches
  • There is a need to understand complex methods of calculation and analysis, with the ability to fully and confidently present or explain the results and workings in simple and meaningful terms to clients, third parties and team members. Good organisational, communication, problem solving and client relationship skills are also required in the conduct of regular meetings with clients and the management of relationships with external vendors
  • An understanding of complex investment instruments and how they are processed for performance calculation purposes is essential. In addition, detailed knowledge of prevailing performance presentation standards and how they impact on information given out by the Performance team is required
