A leading financial services organisation is currently searching for Business Analyst with experience in Insurance Systems/Platforms on a 6 month contract basis.It will be £570 Umbrella per day and working in a hybrid capacity out of their City of London offices.Responsibilities for the role are;

The Delegated Management Project will optimise The Syndicate Group's bordereau management capabilities by making the process of getting bordereau data from coverholders more efficient, through the standardisation of data formats, and by enabling coverholders, DCA's, and TPA's to upload data directly into Lloyd's Delegated Data Manager application (DDM).

The project is also focusing on increasing our data maturity by capturing, cleaning and storing related data once, and pulling it all into the data warehouse, will leverage this additional data to enhance reporting.

Task Description

The Technical Business Analyst is primarily responsible for translating business requirements into working software solutions. Working within a team of developers, high-level requirements must be refined, agreed and delivered using agile methodologies.

This role would suit someone who has both technical experience and Business Analysis experience. They MUST have London Market Insurance experience coupled with a cooperative approach to their work.


Undertake the analysis of business requirements and demands across the business value chain, providing key analytical skills that will enable business problems to be understood and the subsequent requirements for IT systems documented, tested and delivered
  • Document detailed business requirements and specifications and ensure these are agreed at all levels throughout the business. This is likely to include the following:
    • 'As is' and 'to be' process modelling
    • User stories including acceptance criteria
    • UML (use case modelling)
    • User interface mock-ups / specification
    • Gap analysis
    • Non-functional requirements
  • Derive system requirements from business demands and translate into specifications and/or user stories.
  • Identification of appropriate solutions under the guidance of enterprise and solution architecture and subject matter experts.
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment for the building and updating of technical and functional documents.
  • Conducts and/or supports software unit testing & issue resolution
  • Leads and participates in internal quality reviews of solution design and test plans
  • Write test case scenarios and testable user stories for digital applications, APIs, and messaging components to ensure that these can be estimated & delivered by the developers for their specific purpose
  • Assists in the design, development, review, and execution of system test scripts
  • Executes and leads the functional/non-functional and technical tests, incl. analysis and documentation of deviations
  • Identifies process improvements, contributes to project testing standards and implementation of best practice
  • Requests and manages the test and demo environments (if required)
  • Manages business team engagement with regards to testing and quality, including supporting the business team with testing execution where required.

Required Skills and qualifications

Must have
  • >2 years London Market (re)insurance experience with a good knowledge of products and markets
  • Demonstrable experience in analysis of business demands, deriving of system requirements and translating into system solutions
  • Demonstrated multidisciplinary communications skills particularly with business stake holders (end user and management levels)
  • Strong analytical, facilitation and presentation skills
  • Good Technical skills including an excellent understanding of the SDLC is required.
  • Demonstrable experience of using use cases, UML, user stories
  • Demonstrable experience on 'As is' and 'to be' process modelling
  • Experience working in a regulated environment.
  • Strong Technical Systems and Technical Business Analysis experience.
  • Data Analysis and Development skills with knowledge of SQL, T-SQL, Data modelling, etc.
  • Strong SQL Scripting skills

Nice to have
  • Experience of working with Delegated Authority bordereaux management applications and data, claims and accounting systems, Data Warehouses, ETL processes
  • Experience in SOAP UI, SQL, Selenium, Azure DevOps (Test Module) or other appropriate testing tools
  • Experience of working in Agile project environments
  • University Degree and/or relevant professional qualification
  • ISEB in Business Analysis (or similar)
  • ISTQB Qualification (or similar)
