We have a current opportunity for a Pre-school assistant (Qualified) on a permanent basis. The position will be based in Hampton upon Thames for 30 hours per week.

Curriculum Delivery
  • Contribute to the curriculum at the pre-school ensuring it is creative, stimulating and fun. That it facilitates the intellectual, emotional, physical, social and where appropriate, spiritual development of each child.
  • To help children realise their full potential by providing in advance a plan of activities in each area of the EYFS 2021 and planning all aspects of the pre-school sessions
  • Be a key person to a group of children, create and maintain individual development plans, prepare development reports, keep children's profiles up-to-date as required and liaise with their parents /carers and the manager on any issues of concern.
  • Championing a particular area or project within the nursery based on targets agreed at team meetings. This will include specific duties and liaison with nursery colleagues.

You will also be expected to carry out administration duties including maintaining the registers and records of the children, H&S checks, support audits for the pre-school and report defects to the pre-school manager when necessary.

The right candidate will:

Ensure that each child is treated as an individual making sure that they are listened to, respected and their opinions are valued.

Ensure that there is a welcoming and friendly environment demonstrated by the YMCA's equal opportunities policy.

Will take an observant approach making sure each child is given praise encouraging positive behaviour.

Monitor each child's development, liaising with staff regularly. Highlighting any concerns or development delay and ensuring appropriate action is taken.

Ensure all children are protected from harm, and safeguarding concerns are raised immediately with the pre-school manager.
