We are working with a large NHS organisation based in the West Midlands who are looking to appoint a Senior Patient Safety & Risk Manager.
The post will be working on an interim basis for 3 months initially with an hourly rate between £34.65 - £41.13, working inside IR35 (through an umbrella solution company).
The post holder will lead on all aspects of Patient Safety including serious incident investigations, Duty of Candour and Patient Safety Alerts.
Key responsibilities will include:
Ensure all clinical groups and directorates develop, implement, and maintain robust local risk management practices, ensuring compliance with the requirements of the organisations Risk Management Policy;
Manage the Incident Reporting Policy and associated procedures throughout the organisation, as the basis for reporting and learning to mitigate incidents;
Ensure proper investigation and follow-up of serious incidents, providing briefings to the appropriate committees, Executive Directors, Board, etc;
Remain professionally updated in all aspects of patient safety and risk management, specifically national standards;
Ensure effective implementation of the organisations Risk Management policy ensuring the strategic direction of patient safety is considered;
Provide support and advice to clinical groups and directorates in carrying out investigations of incidents and near misses including the identification and implementation of action plans and control measures to prevent incident recurrence;
Ensure that all risk management related policies and procedures are robust and current and reflect national risk, governance, and patient safety initiatives, legislation, and healthcare priorities;
Produce annual reports and development plans for patient safety and risks and ensure effective deployment of resources to provide efficient and proactive risk management services to the organisation;
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in risk management and the law.
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience working within the NHS/ a healthcare setting and recent experience within an Acute organisation;
Senior management experience within Risk Management and Patient Safety;
Expertise within the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) and able to demonstrate;
Excellent leadership skills, able to support and advice teams and produce detailed reports to senior management;
Promote and develop a fair and open approach where staff report incidents in a timely manner.
