AV Engineer / Senior AV Engineer / AV Project Manager required for my client based near Cambridge for a permanent role, salary £22-35K + benefits.

My client are seeking a talented Audio Technician / AV Engineer to join their team.

At the more senior end of the salary bracket more project orientated / Project Management skills are required, and the role will be more hands off and more coordination orientated.

You will work on local and international installation work for events. Typically events will be around 80% in the UK and around 20% overseas globally. Around 50-60% of the travel in the UK is in the London area, with the remainder in major cities such as Birmingham and Manchester. You will be provided with a company van.

You will need to live in the vicinity of Cambridge, and have flexibility to travel. Typically in an average week you will be away 2 or 3 nights, with the remainder of the time spent working in the office.

The role is strictly speaking 9am - 5:30pm Monday-Friday. However, with travel time, travel to site and morning / evening set ups for events needing to be factored in, longer working hours when onsite are to be expected.

To counteract this my client operates a flexitime system, meaning that any hours worked over the 37.5 hours per week are banked as time off in lieu. As a great deal of the time is spent onsite, this can accrue rapidly, resulting in weeks of time accrued throughout the year. The Engineers in this team currently work between 30-35 weeks of the year, as opposed to the usual 47 or 48 weeks.

Busier periods tend to be February / March / May / June / July / September / October / November. Quieter months therefore tend to be December / January and August, and Engineers often end up spending much of this time not working at all, due to the event related time off in lieu accrued during busier periods. The hours accrued also mean that when travelling to the office you are able to start earlier / later than 9am to avoid traffic.

Working at weekends or on bank holidays accrues additional payments (£150 per day for a weekend day, and 2x pay for bank holiday working) rather than time off in lieu (however this is optional in most cases)

You will be working in a small but dedicated team to install a variety of Audio and AV equipment at events around the world.

The following is essential:

· Background working as either an Audio Technician / Engineer or AV Engineer

· Flexibility to travel

· Relative proximity to Cambridge

You will need to be eligible to pass through SC Clearance as you will often be operating in secure / sensitive environments.
