Reporting to the Deputy Director, this leading UK University require a Strategic Planning & Management Information Manager to support the delivery of the University's Corporate Plan and ensure the university's strategic planning and monitoring processes are underpinned by robust, high quality and timely management information so that these remain aligned to the institutional strategy.

Description

Reporting to the Deputy Director, this leading UK University require a Strategic Planning & Management Information Manager to support the delivery of the University's Corporate Plan and ensure the university's strategic planning and monitoring processes are underpinned by robust, high quality and timely management information so that these remain aligned to the institutional strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and management to a small team, including joint responsibility for staff development and performance reviews, allocation of duties, setting priorities and ensuring targets are met.
Lead on the production and submission of a number of statutory returns / reports to a range of external bodies (including HESA, OfS, SFA and EFA).
Develop systems, controls and processes to meet statutory requirements (including HESA, OfS, SFA and EFA) and provide advice and analysis on the impact of data returns on the university's forecast position in league tables, NSS, TEF, Performance Indicators and other related information sets.
Lead in the development of appropriate systems for data collection and manipulation to support the University's strategic academic planning functions.
Lead in the development and embedding of internal systems and networks to enhance management information, strategic planning and external reporting.
Provide analysis and model implications of sector changes and advise senior management on possible courses of action.
Provide statistical and monitoring information on strategic aspects of student records.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of Higher Education policy, ensuring the University remains compliant with external reporting requirements and is able to respond to both internal and external audit related activity.
Provide advice and support to colleagues across the University Group on a wide range of data collection and funding issues
Draft formal responses to external bodies in relation to consultations, appeals and data verification.
Support the integration and development of Business Intelligence solutions within the wider team to produce more sophisticated performance monitoring and trend analysis.
Provide strategic insight to create and lead on the development of new planning/horizon scanning models used to understand future trends
Undertake project-related work, undertake detailed analysis and prepare reports / presentations as required by the Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor (Strategy and Planning), Deputy Director of the Strategic Planning and Analytics Office or Senior Management.Key Skills / Experience:

Experience of initiating, leading on and implementing projects in collaboration with academic and professional services staff.
Experience in the production, interpretation and reporting of statistical data to different audiences.
Demonstrable experience of data analysis and manipulation using a range of tools, including but not limited to Business Objects and Tableau.
Experience of compiling statutory submissions within a Higher Education environment e.g. HESA, HESES and ILR (Desirable)
Experience of networking and engagement with a range of contacts (Internal and external).
Ability to lead, organise and manage a small team.
Ability to work accurately under pressure and manage a varied and demanding workload.
Gives a high priority to customer needs, providing a quality service that is regularly reviewed.
Ability to design and implement effective processes/procedures.
Able to organise and analyse both narrative and numerical data, and present it in a clear and concise format.
Ability to undertake market analysis and present summarised data and recommendations.
Ability to analyse business needs and identify how Business Intelligence can contribute to the organisational need.
Able to utilise visualisation tools such as Tableau.

Profile
