Commercial Counsel

Remote (UK) with travel to Oxford on regular basis and overseas as required

The Role

Newman Stewart are partnering with one of our key clients in the search for an experienced Commercial Counsel.

Reporting to the General Counsel it will be your responsibility to provide commercial legal and contractual support to all Group entities.

Under the direction of the GC, you will provide a wide range of contractual and commercial legal services and support to the Group's global operating and business units.

The successful candidate will be a qualified legal professional (Solicitor or Barrister) with strong commercial contracts experience. Due to the nature of the work, a background in and experience of the electricity industry, renewables or the utilities sector would be an advantage.

Skills and Experience

In order to be considered for this integral role you will

· Have demonstrable PQE gained within an international commercial organisation or a UK law firm - a mix of in house and private practice experience preferred.

· Demonstrate experience of sales, procurement, manufacturing, outsourcing, partnering and technology contracts.

· Possess knowledge of data privacy regulations and information security risks.

· Have the ability to learn and understand sophisticated technical service offerings and requirements and apply knowledge in negotiation of service contracts.

· Possess strong drafting and negotiation skills along with excellent business judgment and strategic thinking.
