ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead our Back-End Operational Applications Team. You will be leading a team of software developers who are responsible for high availability, high performance critical applications at the heart of Nominet's world-leading domain name registry business.
Our critical national infrastructure supports the UK's online economy, and our registry platform is used by our customers throughout the world to register and manage .uk, as well as other domain names.
You will play a key role in the management of application software, development infrastructure, processes and people to provide high quality software development. The role is wide ranging, covering domain registration systems, billing and invoicing and API development and gets involved in all aspects of the management of the applications.
ABOUT YOU AND WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
You will be experienced in fostering a culture of coaching and be able to demonstrate effective team management aligned to our values of ownership, integrity and boldness. In this role you will work closely with the Registry Services and Product Teams so an understanding of delivering projects and enhancements would be useful.
You will drive change through consultation and collaboration, nurturing and developing relationships effectively to evolve processes and procedures to achieve integrated and efficient service.
It's essential that you have experience managing software teams using Java and knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, PostGres) and a thorough understanding of software development methodologies, trends and systems . Experience and knowledge of C++, Spring Framework, Hibernate, JDBC, JMX and testing frameworks would be beneficial.
