An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a commercial and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) / Finance Director (FD) to join a high-growth and profitable business in Crawley, West Sussex.

Joining the business at a truly exciting time as it exits the start-up phase and enters the scale-up and fast-growth phase, you will take the reigns of the finance function, delivering on key commercial and strategic objectives, developing a road map for domestic and international expansion and playing a pivotal role in ensuring the company achieves its ambitious corporate goals.

Becoming a founding member of the Board, one of your key focusses will be to set both the short- and long-term financial and commercial strategy and to support the organisation's targets to drive revenue, profit and EBITDA through domestic and international expansion, organic growth and diversification, exploring mergers and acquisitions, and investment opportunities.

The role:
  • Leading and developing the finance function as it enters the next phase of scale-up / fast-growth
  • Exploring and executing the growth strategy around fund raising and/or M&A / PE investment opportunities and expansion, both domestically and internationally
  • Business-partnering departmental heads and senior leadership team, and managing external stakeholders to maximise profitability, development and growth opportunities
  • Leading budgeting and forecasting activity, establishing and embedding strong planning processes
  • FP&A around commercial and competitor activity, identifying new business opportunities
  • Setting up monthly management accounts with commentary on drivers for variances
  • Implementing month ends with efficiencies around billing, accruals, deferrals, reconciliations, cash collection and balance sheet reviews with clear documentation of policies and procedures
  • Providing the financial metrics to support cross selling and collaboration across the wider group as the business grows and diversifies, and partnering with the business on pricing mechanisms
  • Implementing the measurement of EBITDA across projects and business lines
  • Supporting change management throughout the business and embedding commercial understanding into the business beyond top line retainer revenue
  • Owning and being accountable for accounting policies and decisions
  • Embedding strong governance and controls across the business
  • Ensuring tax compliance for VAT and corporation tax
  • Implementing a strategy to maximise tax efficiencies for the Directors and business
  • Leading audits and ensure minimum management letter points and accounting adjustments
  • Managing relationships with external stakeholders to include, but not limited to, banks, investors and auditors
  • Supporting the implementation of a group ERP/consolidation system and delivering reporting in accordance with Group policies, as the business grows
  • As the business grows, recruiting a team of Finance Assistants / Accountants

Your background:
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Have a proven-track record delivering on commercial and strategic objectives as an FD or CFO in a scale-up and fast-growth phase of a business
  • Be able to demonstrate experience / understanding of setting up legal entities in international jurisdictions
  • An analytical mind with strong financial modelling and technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS and tax
  • Be an excellent finance leader and business partner to non-finance heads

Your rewards:
