Key Responsibilities

Responsible for advising, and supporting members of the community, on the operation of the Code of Student Conduct, and for the review, development and implementation of the Code.
To lead on conducting case investigations into alleged breaches by students of the Code, including interviewing the students involved, including alleged victims and witnesses, considering all available evidence, identifying the key points and arguments of the case, maintaining accurate written records of meetings, effective communications to students involved in cases and providing a final report of the investigation outcome.
Ensure effective support for all students involved in conduct procedures throughout all stages of the process, through effective communications and appropriate referrals to our University services.
Conclude minor allegations of misconduct and, where appropriate, to impose a proportionate and reasonable penalty.
Refer allegations of serious breaches of the Code for consideration by a Student Conduct Committee and be responsible for preparing and presenting the case against a student who has been referred.
Works with other professional services colleagues and with the Students' Union to take forward actions that promote an inclusive and welcoming environment.Essential Criteria

A good honours degree (2.1 or above) or equivalent experience
Senior experience of work in a relevant or similar role within Higher or Further Education
Experience of working successfully within a regulatory framework or procedure driven environment
Experience of dealing confidently and sensitively with challenging and emotional situations
Experience of conducting one-to-one meetings, gathering and analysing large quantities of complex information, and producing accurate records
Experience of developing, applying and advising on complex policy and procedure
Experience of recognising the risk and impact of decisions, and applying proactive approaches to resolving issues
Experience of leading and managing staff
Experience of using IT systems to report against targets and objectives, and an appreciation of the role of IT systems in supporting business processes
Experience of working across teams and developing a positive, high performance culture
