Pastoral and Academic Support Worker - Gosport
Prospero Teaching are working with an excellent mixed Secondary School based in the Gosport area.
The School are looking to appoint a talented and passionate Academic and Pastoral Support Worker Support to support and teach students on a one to one basis and in small groups. This will predominantly be in English, Maths and Science, so you would need to be confident with Key Stage 3 and GCSE knowledge of one or more of these subjects.
This post would also be ideally suited to individuals who may be considering a career into teaching to gain valuable classroom experience.
You will be supportive, non-judgmental, patient, easy to talk to, positive and flexible. You must be able to speak to pupils in a manner which encourages and supports them, enabling you to build trusting relationships. You are confident working with pupils on a one-to-one, small group basis or supporting in class, enabling all pupils to overcome any barriers to learning.
The role involves working with pupils of all abilities, including those with special needs. Pupils with physical disabilities may need help with mobility and accessing materials, for example. Pupils with behavioural difficulties require particular support to help them achieve their full potential.
You need to be a responsible and organised person. You will have a GCSE minimum grade C or equivalent functional skills in English and Maths. Educated to degree level desirable or with proven knowledge/ experience.
Part time and full time hours are available. The School day is 8.15 am to 3.30 pm.
