Our local authority client are sourcing for an Interim Principal Accountant of Pensions to be responsible for supporting the Head of Pensions & Treasury in the management of the Pension Fund's investments, (£2.1bn+), dealing with performance, relationship with investment managers, research, strategic issues, responsible investment issues and reporting.
You will be responsible for:
Carrying out end-to-end reviews of all accounting processes on an ongoing basis, designing new innovative streamed solutions as appropriate and to train team members and implement these solutions.
With the Head of Pensions & Treasury, formulate the detailed Pension Fund objectives and policies including the annual cash flow and budget for approval by the team members and implement these solutions.
Leading the closing of the Pension Fund accounts production in line with the corporate timetable. This includes final account files with working papers in accordance with but not limited to financial regulations, CIPFA code of practices.
Liaising with internal and external audit as required on pension related issues and to implement recommendations arising from audits as appropriate.
Preparing regular reports for the Pension Fund Committee and Pension Board in relation to budget monitoring, cash flow and working capital.
Applicants will be expected to have recognised accounting or investment qualification CIPFA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent with significant experience post qualification experience at a senior level.
