There has never been a more exciting time to join UKAEA. We're looking for a talented Media and Communications Officer with strong writing skills to help us promote fusion energy - a sustainable, low carbon, new form of energy.

We believe fusion energy can be an environmentally responsible part of the world's future energy supply. It is described as the ultimate energy source, based on the same processes that power the sun and stars.

This is a chance to join a hard-working, warm, and welcoming team based in Culham, Oxford, with options for hybrid working.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Media Manager and Internal Communications Manager, you will:

Proactively find opportunities to communicate our key messages using internal and external channels
Write and publish opinion pieces, features and news stories
Organise media training and media planning
Build relationships with senior personnel to tell our storyOur offer

Location

The role will be based at UKAEA, Oxford. UKAEA also offer the opportunity of a hybrid working environment.

The successful candidate will have at least three years' experience working in communications and/or media relations

What are some of the skills and experience we are looking for...

You will have proven experience working in a news or press office environment, preferably in the energy industry, environmental sector or Government, and be comfortable using digital channels to reach a range of different audiences.

We're looking for somebody who is:

Proactive across communications disciplines
A cooperative team player who enjoys working in diverse teams
Ability to see the big picture and to find relevance for UKAEA in external contexts
Excellent knowledge of the developing media landscape as well as social media trends
Very strong writing and editorial skills
