Being a SEN Teaching Assistant is the one of the first steps you can take as a Psychology graduate in your quest to become and Education / Clinical Psychologist. Having undertaken this role for 8 years, I now see Therapists who have qualified and running their own departments and practices at the age of 30-34.
This particular SEN Teaching Assistant role involves working 1:1 with a male pupil in Year 2 who has severe autism. There is a 360 degrees nature to this role, as a SEN TA you will be working closely with parents, the pupil, classroom teachers and other SEN TAs. In particular, you will be working with graduates who will be SEN TAs also, they will have similar aspirations to yourself.
As a SEN TA, you will be able to bounce off other team members and swap case files with colleagues, being a SEN TA can be a very fluid role in that sense.
