Met Lab Technician(Grade dependent on skills and experience)Exeter Permanent Day shift Looking to join a a global leader in engineered metal products? Look no further! An opportunity has arisen within the Material Testing Laboratory department (Casting Plant) for a Met Lab Technician. This is a permanent, full time hourly position to support manufacturing departments and part engineers. This role operates on days and reports to the Met Lab Supervisor.Job role/key responsibilities:* Maintain laboratory databases and information management systems with a high level of accuracy.* Maintain laboratory documentation and records to a high standard for audit traceability.* Use a wide range of specialist hand tools, equipment, and machinery.* Carry out routine maintenance activities to ensure the laboratory functions at peak efficiency.* Preparation of samples to the appropriate specified method.* Materials testing activities: (Chemistry, Metallography and Mechanical testing)* Analysis and reporting of test results and laboratory data.* Co-ordinate testing of samples off-site and arrange sub-contractor testing where appropriate.Requirements:* Time served apprenticeship or National recognised qualification in Materials or Engineering (desirable)* Experience in Materials Testing within a manufacturing environment (desirable)* Meticulous, with exceptional attention to detail* Strong sense of integrity and credibility* Able to work self-sufficiently and independently prioritise tasks* Able to multitask across a variety of sub-departments* Good verbal and written communication skills* Team player; able to work with Process Owners and Engineering teams* Ability to communicate confidently with external technical contacts.
