Educational Consultant - Opus Teach Interviewer - Remote Role

Opus Teach are looking to take on an Educational Consultant/Ex-Headteacher to assist with our in-depth interview process for our supply teachers. Due to the high demand for supply teachers within East Essex, Opus Teach is looking for individual with a wealth of experience to assist us with our supply teacher recruitment.

We are looking for someone who will be able to bring years of educational expertise and teacher interviewing experience to our team on an adhoc basis to assist with our virtual interviews. Our interviews are currently all online due to COVID-19, therefore there will be no requirement to travel for this work. The role can be carried out from your laptop.

As part of Opus Teaches thorough interview process to become a supply teacher, we have each candidate undertake an interview with an educational professional. Despite, years of education recruitment experience and knowledge within our team, it would seem unfair for a team of recruiters to interview teachers without never teaching!

Therefore, it is important to us that we get educational professionals to lead in the interviews and use their experience/knowledge to help assist us to recruit the best teachers. Within this interview, our educational consultant leads a set of questions and creates in-depth conversation with each candidate to ensure we are getting the most out of each teacher, learning as much as possible about each candidate and then able to make a thorough decision as to whether they would be suitable for Opus Teach as a supply teacher.

Your role would be leading the interview and deciding on their suitability to Opus Teach (matching and aligning each teacher with our values) and working with the Opus Teach team to continue to improve and develop our service. This role is a unique opportunity to work with an honest, hardworking agency who are wholly owned by Suffolk County Council and looking to make a real difference in the supply market. This is an adhoc role that can be slotted around other part time commitments. Although not essential, it is preferred if you're from the Colchester area or have connections in the area.

Who are Opus Teach?

Opus Teach are a supply agency based in Ipswich, who are wholly owned by Suffolk County Council, currently recruiting for supply teachers in schools located across Colchester and surrounding areas. We operate from 7am - 5pm Monday - Friday and have our own booking system which runs 365 days a year 24/7, allowing schools to book wherever and whenever.

Our teachers have complete control over their availability and the positions they choose to accept. They receive texts from our booking system when they are requested, allowing them to easily accept. Of course, we will call our teachers if preferred and still build a relationship with them and communicate with them however they wish. We have worked continually throughout the pandemic, supporting schools, and providing placements for teachers wanting to work throughout.

We have strong processes in place to ensure safety is a priority for our teachers and schools, from virtual interviews.

The ideal candidate will have the following:
  • Expert knowledge of current safeguarding policies with education
  • Previous experience as a Headteacher in either Primary or Secondary Schools
  • Able to provide professional references covering the last 5 years of employment
  • Completed Safer Recruitment Training
  • Must be proficient in using Microsoft Teams
  • Must not have had any safeguarding issues or safeguarding allegations made against you
