My client are one of the UK's most respected and trusted retail brands in their sector. Their strong presence in the industry has grown through long lasting relationships with their suppliers and customers.

The Retail Store Manager will oversee the daily operations within the store in addition to being directly engaged in retail sales. They need to be passionate about delivering exceptional levels of customer service and driving sales. They will also manage the stores retail employees, assigning duties and developing the team.
  • Being the front line face of their retail team with high levels of presence and customer engagement including personal sales
  • To manage and lead the retail and operations teams in all aspects of the people management to meet the needs of the business
  • To energise the retail team and drive a selling culture. Strive to meet and exceed retail sales targets and deliver an exceptional and consistent standard of customer service
  • Implement a continuous improvement mentality within the team
  • Manage all staff Rotas ensuring covering 7 days per week across the business
  • Take responsibility for recruitment, interviews, selection and training of new employees
  • Carry out annual performance reviews on each team member
  • First contact for retail staff absence, stepping in where no cover is available
  • To understand company sales targets clearly identifying what this means in terms of sales, profitability and staffing levels
  • Working with sales data to utilise and exploit retail sales and operational decisions.
  • Coordinate sales operations between their different departments to maximise sales of decorative lighting, furnishings and accessories
  • Coordinate with their marketing manager to produce a consistent level of brand awareness and targeted retail marketing
  • Regularly meet with MD and Finance Manager to interpret sales and financial date
  • Provide monthly reporting at their monthly staff meeting
  • Ensure retail staff are kept up to date with changes to products, pricing, in-store offers and online WEB promotions
  • Ensure their stores product display offer is current, relevant and includes bestselling lines. Clear slow selling or discontinued lines as necessary
  • Ensure outstanding levels of visual merchandising and cleanliness at all times.
  • Ensure all HR and H&S policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Responsibility for opening and closing the store including end of day transactions

Skills and Knowledge
  • 2 to 3 years retail management experience in a similar retail role
  • Good standard of numerical, MS Excel and written skills and ability to interpret data
  • The ability to plan, multi-task and prioritise workloads and delegate accordingly
