You will develop and deliver technical innovation projects to improve operational performance in the areas of efficiency, safety, sustainability & quality within the agreed budgets and timescales.

As an Innovation Engineer, you will have the following accountabilities:

* Manage several concurrent innovation projects and technical initiatives to improve the operational performance of the Power T&D business.

* Responsible for development of Innovation business case and execution ensuring adherence to BBPT&D governance.

* Ensure that all works are performed in accordance with safety, technical and legislative policies and procedures.

* Ensure projects are delivered on time and within the financial requirements.

* Prepare and detailed technical files and written procedures to support innovative equipment and methods.

* Working closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure that all projects are appropriately assessed, designed, planned, resourced and scheduled in a timely and cost effective manner.

* Ensure all innovation concepts compliment or enhance technical and procedural best practice.

* Undertake project site visits to ensure innovation development work is being undertaken in compliance with best practice, providing technical advice and guidance where necessary.

* Encourage and integrate innovation and cost effective working methods across the business.

* Develop close working relationships with other key functions in the company and keep them aware of, and seek their views on, proposed changes to ensure that there is a coordinated approach.

* Continually review feedback from Operations to develop any necessary improvements to products.

You will have the following:


* Strong communication skills both written and verbal.

* Previous experience of delivering projects within a technical environment

* Full driving license

* Working knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation

* Working knowledge of MS Office suite including, Word, Excel, Outlook


* Previous experience managing technical innovation projects

* Demonstrable record of challenging normal working practices

* Technical expertise relevant to the Power Transmission & Distribution industry

* Batchelors degree in engineering discipline or HND with relevant experience

* Professional qualifications such as membership of an engineering professional body (ICE, IMechE, IEEE).
