We are working with a city centre based special school which provides inclusive and committed support to primary and secondary aged pupils who have communication needs and learning difficulties and behavioural problems.

The school hopes to recruit a Teaching Assistant who is familiar with special and/or medical needs including Autism, and preferably have worked in a child based or education environment, however are open to applications from other relevant backgroundsThe students study a sensory and rounded curriculum, incorporating lots of creative, interactive and messy activities alongside specific occupational therapies which are designed to support their cognitive development (and be really fun!).

SEN Teaching Assistant - Role Requirements

We are looking for people that are flexible and can work on a day to day basis as well as people that would like long term work.

* Experience of working as a Teaching Assistant/ LSA

* Experience of working in a SEN setting or alternative provision

* Having a positive behaviour management qualification such as Team-Teach or MAPA would be beneficial

* Having personal care experience would also be beneficial for some schools

* Be enthusiastic, caring and patient

* Working hours 8:30am - 3:30pm

SEN Teaching Assistant - Responsibilities

*To encourage pupils to join in with all activities and to take a full and active part in school life

*To support and care for the child in their individual needs

*To prepare, modify and adapt resources and learning materials for the pupil as agreed with the class teacher and other professionals

*To assist in resolving any behavioural, social and emotional difficulties which may arise

*To encourage the pupil to develop a positive self image, and to develop confidence in their abilities and communication with others
