Service Engineer
£Market Rate
Witney/Field Based
The Burford Recruitment Company are working with an internationally established manufacturing group who are looking to recruit a Service Engineer. Reporting directly to the Service Manager, you will perform service, maintenance and repair work on customer sites. This role will be 50% field based and 50% working from the company's UK service office and workshop Nr Witney, so a full driving licence is needed.

The Burford Recruitment Company are working with an internationally established manufacturing group who are looking to recruit a Service Engineer. Reporting directly to the Service Manager, you will perform service, maintenance and repair work on customer sites. This role will be 50% field based and 50% working from the company's UK service office and workshop Nr Witney, so a full driving licence is needed.
As a Service Engineer, you will:
- Service, install and maintain hire equipment and customer products
- Schedule outage work to complete essential hydraulic and lubrication system annual servicing
- Carry out health check analysis and prepare comprehensive reports for the customer on their hydraulic and lubrication systems
- Use fault finding skills to determine why products and systems are not working correctly, and compile reports and quotations explaining how this can be fixed
- Manage installation/maintenance projects on site
- Work with colleagues to organise and plan outages to ensure all parts and equipment required are in place
- Liaise with engineering, field sales personnel and product managers to ensure customer's requirements are satisfied
- Provide support for the company's service partners and distributors
- Prepare quotations for spares, repairs and site work, ensuring the customer's requirements are satisfied
- Develop good working relationships with key accounts in your area, ensuring equipment is working as it should be
The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:
- BTEC or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a Modern Apprenticeship
- Experience of visiting customers on a technical level
- Experience of hydraulics/hydraulic related field and products (desirable)
- Experience of working on engineered systems
- Fault finding in electromechanical systems
- Ability to problem solve and work under own initiative
- Mechanical aptitude
- Highly motivated self starter with the ability to adapt to fluctuating work demands and multiple priorities
- Strong understanding of customer service, able to identify new sales opportunities
- Understanding of hydraulic circuit diagrams and of fluid contamination and relevant standards
