My client is seeking a junior / mid level developer who is proactive and can work independently.

The task at hand will be to maintain individual parsing modules that deal with individual backup formats. These modules are written in a combination of C and C++ and are the result of a reverse engineering process of the native backup format that allows DART to restore tape backups without the native backup software.

Key responsibilities:

- Testing and debugging the DART backup format handlers using the Visual Studios.- C and C++ development and maintenance of DART backup format handlers.- Supporting production to provide solutions to problems encountered on live jobs.- Bug tracking and project management software.

The successful candidate will:

- Have some C and C++ development experience with knowledge of Object Oriented principles.- Have experience using Visual studio IDE with strong debugging skills.- Have an analytical mind with strong numeracy skills.- Knowledge of low level programming and using binary and hexadecimal number systems perhaps gained from an embedded systems background..- Have a high level diploma or degree level qualification in software or relevant subject, or alternatively an engineer with the relevant programming experience and interest in the data restoration and forensics field.
