Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting for an English Teacher (with QTS) to join this Secondary Alternative Provision in Croydon, teaching small classes across KS3 and KS4. This is a full time role commencing in September 2022 to cover a maternity leave for two terms, possibly longer. The successful candidate will be paid to scale (main pay scale only) on a daily rate and will be paid via weekly timesheets on PAYE.
This Ofsted 'Good' Croydon school provides for vulnerable and challenging young people. It aims to achieve reintegration back into school, further education or employment. For some, this might mean a short stay at the academy, whilst for others it might mean a longer-term involvement throughout their secondary schooling. The curriculum provided is very broad to cater for individual needs and pupils' EHC (Educational Health Care) plans. The school promotes continuity and progression in learning as well as emotional and social development. The school has a hard working and committed team who are dedicated to raising achievement and ensuring the best possible school experience for pupils. Students usually present with behavioural difficulties, linked to SEBD and or SEMH (social, emotional and behavioural difficulties / mental health needs) and other SEN including Autism and ADHD.
As an English Teacher, you will be teaching very small classes of KS3 and KS4 pupils with the aim being to support and challenge students within their studies by making English lessons relevant, interesting and dynamic. A range of qualifications are on offer in this school to suit different abilities and learning styles, including Edexcel GCSE English / Literature and Pearson Functional Skills Level 1 and 2. The curriculum is robust and ambitious meaning that students are experiencing the full range of topics at this level. Class sizes will be no more than 8 students and you will be supported by a couple of Learning Assistants who will either be working 1:1 with individuals who are struggling with behavioural challenges or supporting small groups within the classroom. You will need to be able to work collaboratively with the support staff in the school.Essential requirements:
- QTS, qualified teacher status.
- Experience delivering the UK National Curriculum of English up to GCSE Level (Language and Literature), including Functional Skills.
- Experience supporting young people with special educational needs, specifically SEMH needs.
- Enthusiastic, resilient and positive approach.
- Must have legal right to work in the UK.
