Tax Transformation: General Senior Manager

Our high-profile Indirect Tax Transformation team, based primarily within our London office in the UK, focus on assisting clients with transformation programmes and the operational management of Indirect Taxes. This includes helping clients adapt to the global trend towards tax authority digitisation. They advise clients on a wide range of operational, data and technology projects, such as ERP system Indirect Tax optimisation, process & controls improvements, data analytics and also working with innovative technologies including machine learning and robotics.

The indirect tax transformation team works with a variety of organisations across all sectors and geographies. The business has been growing year on year and in order to seize the opportunities available in the market, the team requires new talent.

The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and ambitious individual to join EY's specialist indirect tax transformation team, with a broad focus across all transformation areas. This role will provide the opportunity to lead and manage the transformation agenda, working with our key clients on all aspects of transformation, such as defining client's Indirect Tax function operating models, conducting process risk & controls reviews, reviewing effectiveness of ERP systems and technology, to implementing data analytics, process automation and VAT reporting solutions. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work with significant multinational clients and to engage with our global EY network, providing a great opportunity to build your transformation skills and expand your corporate network.

Your key responsibilities
  • Lead successful delivery of client projects across the transformation areas (process, data and/or technology) ensuring technical excellence and practical/business-driven approach taken
  • Identify, pursue and convert opportunities to win new work by driving the business development and sales process, working with VAT client relationship owners
  • Build and maintain relationships both within the firm and externally with clients, identifying opportunities and growing your network
  • Develop new transformation propositions to meet client and market needs. This includes liaising with our IT resources on the creation of new technology solutions
  • Build and develop the team and capability to support the successful delivery of VAT transformation projects

ls and attributes for success:
  • Experience in Indirect Tax transformation (process, data and/or technology improvement)
  • Excellent communication and client management experience
  • Ability to lead teams to deliver projects - spanning jurisdictions, functional areas etc
  • Ability to identify opportunities to take to the market and win new work
  • Exposure to use of automation technologies (e.g. Alteryx, MFST)
  • Knowledge and exposure to Indirect Tax in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or other ERP systems),
  • Self-starter, good time manager and able to deal with complexity and competing priorities
  • Solid generalist VAT background (Indirect Tax compliance and supply chain would be preferable)

To qualify for the role, you must have:
  • Indirect Tax experience
  • Experience of Indirect Tax transformation projects
  • Experience working in a team
  • Preferable Experience working for a consultancy business (Big 4 or other)
