Your roleDeloitte's Investment Management and Private Equity Assurance practice is a market-leading group of industry experts that is still rapidly growing. We provide independent assurance to those charged with governance through various product offerings such as service auditor reporting, control framework review and recommend, and bespoke controls reporting to understand their business and build trust amongst key stakeholders and regulators.

The team has built a reputation for providing pragmatic advice and assurance, as well as innovative technology solutions, positioning itself at the cutting edge of emerging regulatory trends by working closely with regulators, industry bodies and clients and conducting its own market research.

We are looking for individuals to help us build and grow our Investment Management Controls Assurance business. The role will include responsibilities such as:
  • Managing and running the delivery of our controls assurance services for investment management and private equity firms, including managing stakeholders, quality and risk, deliverables and the engagement team.
  • Performing first level reviews of the engagement team's work including control design assessments and operating effectiveness of controls testing, in addition to planning and reporting activities such as risk assessments and report reviews.
  • Managing the resolution of control findings and communicating recommendations to Senior Management, and management of the report deliverable review process.
  • Enabling clients to strengthen their internal controls and processes and understanding of regulatory matters and risk governance, management, control frameworks and reporting requirements.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders at clients, and being the first point of contact for day to day communications.
  • Liaising with relevant stakeholders across Deloitte to provide our clients with best in class expertise and services, including at times reporting directly to Partners.
  • Managing the production development of proposals for client engagements.
  • Providing training, coaching, development and support for the team.
  • Managing elements of practice management such as budgets, scheduling, client billing, etc.
  • Manage activities to strengthen our prominence and eminence in the marketplace, for example, writing articles and blogs on regulatory issues affecting the industry and sector, preparing and delivering client seminars.
  • Keeping your technical expertise up to date with market developments, best practices and regulatory expectations.

Your professional experience
  • Strong experience in performing design and risk assessments over control frameworks and/or risk and control matrices; including performance and documentation of process-flow walk-throughs.
  • Experience in the communication of control deficiencies and remediation recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • A critical thinker with strong analysis and communication skills.
  • A strong track record of experience working on regulatory and risk management in the investment management sector (e.g. through working in a firm, another professional services firm, or a regulatory body such as the FCA or PRA supervision).
  • Strong understanding of investment management and private equity markets and the industry expectations with regards to risk management frameworks and internal control environments.
  • Understanding of the operational structure, and processes, within investment management businesses.
  • A critical thinker with strong communication and interpersonal skills - both written and verbal.
  • A good track record of project management, experience managing stakeholder meetings, running workshops and delivering presentations.
  • Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills, ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexible thinking.
  • Good team leadership and excellent project management skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to quickly build a strong internal network.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Qualifications and skills
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent required.
  • Additional professional qualifications of relevance (e.g. IRM, IOR, ICA, CISI, ACA, CIMA) preferred.
