The Organisation: The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is an international membership organisation that promotes and advances civil engineering around the world. ICE is a qualifying body, a centre for the exchange of specialist knowledge, and a provider of resources to encourage innovation and excellence in the profession worldwide. The Role:

Working for a not-for-profit society publisher based in central London, under the supervision of the Journals Manager, you will be responsible for all editorial stakeholder engagement external to the ICE Publishing division e.g., ICE Members, ICE Virtual Library editorial content, Learned Society, authors, reviewers, repository managers. We are looking for someone Significant experience of editorial journal publishing, content management and reporting systems. Excellent understanding of what external and internal stakeholders require; an ability to lead groups. Good communication essential, good team working essential, excellent organisation essential, high level of computer literacy essential, attention to detail essential and highly numerate desirable. The successful candidate will assist in the effective management of the Journal's editorial team to meet department goals, and to deliver journal content on schedule and to budget.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that journals publish on time and to budget
  • Overseeing peer review and themed journal issues
  • Provide Panels and freelance staff with a high level of support
  • Work with the author community and ICE contacts to invite new material
  • Ensure appropriate quality control procedures are in place
  • Assist in the effective management of the Journal's editorial team to meet department goals
  • Maintain clear and accurate schedules of projects under your supervision for own or manager's reference.
  • Any other reasonable task
