The National Portrait Gallery houses a unique collection of all forms of portraiture of the people who have made or are currently contributing to British history and culture; the collection is the most comprehensive of its kind in the world. With around 2 million visitors each year prior to temporary closure for the Inspiring People project and a strong national and international presence through touring exhibitions and special projects, the Gallery is one of the country's most important and popular galleries.

The Gallery hosts approximately 180 'out of hours' events per year. This includes a number of internal events, corporate partner and sponsor bookings and private venue hires. Events range from internal private views; fundraising dinners, Director's Reception, Trustees' Dinner and portrait unveilings to external venue hire receptions and dinners and the occasional fashion show and product launch.
We are looking for a talented events professional with proven event management experience, ideally gained in a heritage or arts organisation. They will be able to make a significant contribution to the Gallery's ambitious venue hire income and fundraising events targets and be responsible for managing and delivering well-executed sponsor, client and Gallery hosted events as well as actively promoting the Gallery as a unique entertaining venue.
This is an opportunity for a self-starter, with experience in managing client and donor relationships, who can deliver these series of events simultaneously to a very high standard.
