National Highways is currently recruiting for a Management Information Lead to join the Capital Portfolio Management team in Birmingham.

Reporting to the Head of Portfolio Management Information & Reporting, you will be responsible for the provision of timely Management Information to our internal and external stakeholders. You will lead on the robust management of the accuracy, integrity and validity of all schedule and cost data to enable performance analysis and reporting activities for the performance of the Capital Portfolio. You will sit within a direct team of seven and a wider team of twenty five.

What you'll be leading on
  1. To develop and maintain schedule and cost data sets that integrate to establish the respective capital baseline and operation plans.
  2. To establish and maintain single-source-of-the-truth system versions of the original and current versions of the capital baseline and operations plans in PowerSteering system.
  3. To manage the update of the current versions of the capital baseline and operations plans in accordance with authorised change.
  4. To control unauthorised change of the respective baselines
  5. To lead the reconciliation of monthly cost and schedule progress and forecast updates against the baseline and operation plans.
  6. Overview the performance management of 'other capital' lines in the capital baseline
  7. To identify and lead progress and forecast data improvement initiatives with appropriate stakeholders.
  8. To provide effective management information and reporting to support CPM scenario management activities.
  9. To provide effective management information and reporting to support CPM stakeholder reporting obligations.
  10. To act as CPM stakeholder to delivery Management Information (MI) & Reporting function
  11. Evaluate project authorisation applications to advise on compliance/deviation from current baseline position.

To be successful you'll need
  • To demonstrate a good level of experience and understanding of project cost management, and finance processes
  • Strong experience in data management practice and procedure, as well as an understanding of schedule management principals
  • To demonstrable experience of leading people to successful delivery of a projects/programmes
  • Good analytical and reporting skills
  • Evidence of successful engagement with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating excellent communication skills (written and presentation)

A bit about us

The Capital Portfolio Management team is responsible for planning for future Road Periods and optimisation of the current Roads Investment Strategy. They carry out portfolio analytics and reporting to provide assurance to the Executive, the Board and external stakeholders that the current and future National Highways capital investment programmes are deliverable, affordable and expected to realise National Highways' commitments and strategic objectives. The team assures adherence to portfolio policies, changes to the capital portfolio and will also provide assessment and practical recommendations to support management's remedial decisions.
