Hybrid home/office working . Office in Glasgow OR Teddington. Nalanda Technology is an independent Software as a Service (SaaS) vendor. We develop and deliver the Nalytics software solution - a cloud-based, AI powered, search and discovery platform - along with several focussed solutions based on the platform technology. The technology underpinning Nalytics is unique, and the solution's search functionality enables content classification, data enhancement (to automatically highlight key entities and values), and NLP techniques. As a result, relevant information is found, even when the search terms to use are not known.With offices in London, Glasgow, and Amsterdam, we work with large and small businesses, helping them meet their industry's regulatory compliance requirements and supporting their data search, discovery, and analysis challenges.Job OverviewThe Development and Test Engineer has a hybrid role, having both development and quality assurance responsibilities. These include front-end development of the main Nalytics product and related solutions, as well as development and execution of manual and automated tests to ensure quality and robustness. The candidate will draw upon their development and problem solving skills to work within a small team, sometimes on their own, to develop new products or extend existing products and solutions.Who Are You?You ooze a passion for innovating and producing intuitive, easy-to-use software. We are looking for a problem-solver with great attention to detail and strong organizational ability. Since end user interaction and teamwork are important aspects of the role, excellent communication and people skills are imperative. You will draw upon their development and problem solving skills to work within a small team, sometimes on your own, to develop new approaches and techniques applicable to improve the Nalytics platform and its deployment/manageability. Good analytical and troubleshooting skills are a must!Main Responsibilities* Continuous improvement of the Nalanda product set* Researching, design and development of highly usable products* Translating concepts and ideas into prototypes that can be evaluated and real products that will meet specific requirements and demands in our target markets* Working with CTO, Product Management and Development colleagues to research, define, create and implement new products utilising the latest development technologies* Carrying out stress testing, performance testing, functional testing and scalability testing* Writing and executing test scripts* Writing bug reports* Running bug reviews with Product Manager to assess and prioritise defectsExperience* Degree in Computing/Software Engineering - or similar - desirable but NOT essential* A passion for innovating and producing intuitive easy to use software* Development experience using Java and web-based technologies, with proven skills in the areas of developing highly performant, robust and scalable real-world solutions.* Experience and knowledge of UX best practices* Understanding of accessibility standards (including W3C) and implementation* Web development: HTML, CSS, responsive design etc.* Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and JavaScript libraries, Ajax and other web based UI technologies* Experience of manual and automated testing* Experience of writing test scriptsBenefits * A technologically enthusiastic company and colleagues* A structure where everyone has a voice and makes a direct and valued contribution to building the best product possible* Working to improve the lives of the most disadvantaged people* Flexible working hours and a relaxed working environment* 25 days leave rising to 30 after 2 years (plus bank holidays)* Enhanced pension scheme* Cycle-to-work scheme* Employee Assistance Programmes* Season ticket travel loans
