EY Director Global Compliance and Reporting, Direct Tax and Tax Accounting

The role is unique and not like the one you would find in a traditional tax advisory firm. This is an opportunity for an ambitious tax professional to join our growing team and work on some of our largest and most complex clients. The Director will deliver EY's industry leading Global Compliance and Reporting across FTSE listed groups/ Fortune 500 clients and grow it to the next level. The alignment of EYs leading practice with a strategic mandate creates a unique opportunity to deliver long term value to our clients and define the future of the tax compliance management. In many ways, this is a career defining role which requires an entrepreneurial mindset - where the role holder is personally vested in the outcome. Success will be measured by having evolved the client's business model, streamlining processes, developing capabilities, and deploying technology solutions, which can be subsequently scaled to EY's clients around the world and further develop the practice.

Typically, the team will provide Global Compliance and Reporting services that are designed to help companies achieve greater control, efficiency, and value across tax and finance. Global Compliance and Reporting integrates EY tax and assurance competencies, either co-sourced or as a managed global service, to deliver a seamless record-to-report experience, enabling clients to focus on more strategic business priorities. You will be the strategic business partner bringing deep Direct Tax and Tax Accounting expertise, advising on appropriate technology to deliver industry leading transformations in an exciting, dynamic environment bringing innovative offerings across multiple clients.

To be a successful candidate you would typically have broad skills and knowledge, including:
  • 10+ years of professional tax experience including at least three years in a big 4
  • Owner mindset, a bias for action and an ambition for growth
  • Demonstrated accountability of Global or Regional Direct Tax Compliance and/or Tax Accounting workstream in an in-house, co-source or in an outsourced service provider capacity
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing group consolidated tax provision under US GAAP and/ or IFRS accounting framework
  • Experience on managing large global outsourcing compliance engagements either in an in-house, co-sourced or outsourced service provider capacity
  • Process focussed with experience in developing standard processes with continuous process improvement, automation and standardisation mindset
  • Demonstrated accountability for a portfolio of tax projects delivery, experience in managing senior stakeholders and commercial arrangements
  • Track record of managing teams; coaching and developing junior staff
  • Awareness of tax technology solutions that can be offered and deployed to EY internal or client's processes
  • Qualified by experience, as well as ATT / CTA / ACA or equivalent qualifications currently based in the UK or abroad

EY is committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We strive to achieve the right balance for our people, enabling us to deliver excellent client service whilst allowing you to build your career without sacrificing your personal priorities. We have implemented 'hybrid working', we think that our people will work on average around 40-60% (2-3 days) at home and the remainder in an EY office or client site. This is because we've established that it's how we use our offices that is key - as places for collaboration, learning, socialising and teaming rather than as a place for individual working - this can be done more effectively remotely, in most cases. Ultimately, it's 'location with a purpose' - you'll work where it's right for your client, your project, your team and of course for you.

If you can demonstrate that you meet the criteria above, please apply now.
