The One World Trust is an independent charity that promotes global governance which is accountable and effective for all.
New trustees needed to address global governance problems. Join a resurgent group that seeks to bring about global governance that is both effective and accountable - and help to develop global solutions.
What will you be doing?
The small team of Trustees, currently operating with volunteer support, works with partner organisations to deliver global change. With a recent background of holding global entities to account, there are two current governance programmes. The first is in support of a UN Parliamentary Assembly (UNPA), with Parliamentarians with a global remit addressing issues of global significance and holding UN Agencies to account. The second is in support of the global governance of Artificial Intelligence, a technology that will become increasingly dominant in the years to come and which is in urgent need of effective global regulation. In addition we are fiscally hosting the Action for Sustainable Development: we are working with them to identify a potential role for the One World Trust in relation to Sustainable Development and are currently exploring an environmental governance project.
The role will be to help support both the development of the strategy and its implementation. This would include the development of concept notes and the securing of funding.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for trustees with the experience and willingness to build an organisation. Skills needed include the ability to participate in the strategic planning and development of the charity as well as the ability to prepare funding proposals. Financial experience would be of benefit for at least one Trustee role as would Project Management skills. A global outlook and a desire to strengthen global governance is key.
Whilst meetings are typically in London, Trustees are not required to live in London or the South East.
What difference will you make?
The One World Trust has a long history of contributing to progressive change, whether in terms of shifting to a more global outlook, or through assessing the accountability of global institutions, or education reform in the UK. You would have the opportunity to strengthen the organisation - and strengthen global governance.
