Protocol are working with a Further Education College in the South Yorkshire area to recruit for a for a passionate Sales Ledger and Credit Control Assistant.

The Role

This is a full time, PERMANENT position working 37 hours per week/52 weeks per year. The salary is £19,261 per annum.

This role offers the successful candidate the chance to gain significant experience and responsibility in the finance department of this £36million Income Group.

Financial stability is a key focus in our 4-point strategic plan and the Sales Ledger and Credit Control Assistant will play a key role in ensuring that the Group achieves outstanding results for students through sound financial strategy and practice. The Group is looking for a motivated and pro-active individual to be part of a team of staff assisting in the delivery of a full range of finance department activities.

In order to effectively achieve the major objective, the main tasks and duties of the successful candidate will include:
* To ensure that all income due to the College (and its subsidiaries) is recognised in a timely fashion and in line with Financial Regulations and Administration Procedures. This includes invoices, direct debits and online payments.
* To post monies received into the finance system and allocate accurately.
* To assist in the management of the College's FE and HE loans.
* To assist with credit control for the Group including liaising with customers with respect to queries and overdue payments with an overall view to reducing outstanding levels of debt.
* To liaise with other departments (including MIS, Student Services, Heads of Departments and Curriculum Managers) where the source of fees are unknown or where fees remain unpaid.
* To ensure month end close down is completed in line with the College's monthly timetable.
* To maintain all records to allow for fast retrieval and ease of use of such information.
* Other ad-hoc tasks including PDQ payments and covering for other members of the team as required.

The Person & Qualifications

Experience of dealing with non-finance staff at all levels.
Previous experience within a credit control or sales ledger role (or a similar environment).
English and Maths GCSE grades A-C (or equivalent) or higher.
Evidence of well-developed IT skills including use of financial accounting packages, spreadsheets, word processing and email packages.
Able to work under pressure and deliver to agreed deadlines.
Willing to undertake any training connected to the position.
DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
