Job Purpose:

Maximise sales and profitability through the achievement of sales targets. Manage the selection of own brands for all full price and factory outlets stores in the UK and globally.


  • Monitor daily and weekly sales performance, by store, ensuring necessary action is taken to optimise sales performance
  • Profile each store's range plan, considering historical data and future market trends
  • Producing and presenting trade reports and the appropriate sales, product, and stock actions
  • Ensuring full availability of both core and seasonal stock for both full price and factory outlet stores, whilst maintaining the right level of newness within the ranges
  • Analysis of profit vs. space by individual product and range. Propose and gain sign off to implement any recommended changes.
  • To understand regional differences and apply this knowledge to all recommendations and decisions
  • Suggesting markdown and promotional activity, whilst owning the promotional calendar

Stock Control and Management
  • Ensure optimum availability across all brands and stores to maximise sales
  • Set minimum and maximum stock levels by SKU by store to ensure good availability and agreed stock cover
  • Oversee the weekly ordering process whilst simplifying it.
  • Work closely with the Operations Director to optimise the supply chain logistically
  • Develop the merchandising strategy in conjunction with the company strategy
  • Resolution of store / brand queries in a timely manner
  • Liaise with the visual merchandiser to determine optimum stock levels and ranging decisions to maximise the visual appeal of the products within each store

  • Has previously held a Merchandise Assistant / Assistant Merchandiser role, has experience in-store of brand, or has a similar skill set to what is required
  • Factory Outlet experience is desired, but not essential
  • Experience at working with multiple product areas with high SKU bases
  • Experience in devising and executing merchandising strategies
  • Experience of making process changes and improvements

  • A self-starter who does not need to be micro-managed
  • Excel to an intermediate/advanced standard (v-lookups, filters, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Knowledge of SAP and Business Objects or similar systems, or demonstration that this knowledge can be learned on the job
  • Ability to produce range plans
  • Ability to be an effective part of the retail team
  • Very process driven - both in working style and ability to propose new processes
  • Capable of working to deadlines often under pressure with tight timescales
