At the Bus Shelter, we provide shelter, food, and support for our residents, who are rough sleepers looking to make the right progress towards a life of independence away from the streets.

The Bus Shelter MK are now seeking additional trustees to join our friendly and pro-active board to help with the next stage of our growth.

What will you be doing?

Our trustees play a vital role in making sure that The Bus Shelter MK (TBSMK) achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. They also ensure that TBSMK has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Just as importantly, they support and challenge the executive team to TBSMK to grow and thrive.

What are we looking for?

The Bus Shelter MK is particularly, but not exclusively, interested in hearing from people with experience in one of the following areas:

  • Housing Association / Social Housing Charity Fundraising Marketing / PR

You do not need previous governance experience – we will provide a full induction and ongoing support.

What difference will you make?

Since opening in March 2018, we have accommodated and supported 100 people and advised more than 200 others. Our guests have ranged in age from 19 to 73 and stay with us for an average of four months while we support them into work and a sustainable home. We literally change lives – and sometimes we have without doubt saved lives – offering a sustainable route out of homelessness.

Time commitment

Our board currently meets monthly and the existing trustees contribute a varying number of hours per month

Before you apply

Reach Volunteering's TrusteeWorks team are supporting TBSMK with their Board recruitment. Please submit your CV, LinkedIn profile or similar along with a covering letter stating why why you would like to apply to become a board member of The Bus Shelter MK and how your skills, abilities and experience and how your skills would add value to the board. If you would prefer to have a chat with a current board member before making a formal application please get in touch to request this.
