NeuroSupport services is looking for psychology graduates or candidates with a background of Brain Injury and Mental health experience to support services users with an acquired Brain Injury. Our service aims to support rehabilitation and in enabling people to optimise independence and quality of life. We are looking for a Therapy assistant who would be willing to support people both within their home environment and also willing to provide support in helping service users access the community.
Experienced in brain injury support is highy advantageous.
Please briefly describe the client's difficulties:
Poor cognition
Aspiration risk
Impaired motor skills
Restricted range of movement in left hip/ pelvis form injuries sustained
Speech hard to understand
Can be impulsive and anxious
The household can be challenging in terms of communication and emotions
What are the activities required?
Assistance required to transfer - standing step transfer with close supervision and prompting
Prompting to complete personal care and follow OT plan
Supervision with eating / drinking
Help to complete therapy programme - OT, PT, SLT, psychology
Support to manage impulsivity and anxieties
Support with cognition
Help to cook meals
Diabetic - admin of medication
Hour available: 3 or 4 shifts to be covered from 7.45am to 8pm - we can probably work around the availability of the workers available. Shifts are 7 days a week. shift pattern is 12-hour shifts and any one we introduce needs to fit in to this schedule otherwise it becomes too bitty for the client and his family.
There will be plenty more opportunities for more hours for the suitable candidate.
Successful Candidates will:
* Have access to full Training including Brain Injury Awareness Training
* CPD opportunities
* Full Enhanced DBS and Insurance
* Competitive Hourly Rate
* Partial Mileage and Travel time covered
* Gain Experience working with an MDT
Successful candidates will be willing to help people adapt to their limitations, but also strive to reach their goals. You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to implement behavioural, psychological, and cognitive strategies, as well as support with daily living activities. Therapy Assistants should be confident with working independently and providing empirical feedback where necessary.
Successful candidates must be:
* Reliable
* Adaptable
* Resilient
* Excellent Communication skills
* Experience in the field of Psychology
* Willing to become self-employed
