I'm partnering with a successful £160m turnover manufacturing business in East Cheshire who require a Financial Controller to act as succession planning for the Finance Director who is looking to retire in the next 18 - 36 months.

Becoming the head of a well-established accounts team of 7, this newly created role will also be integral to an impending system upgrade, as well as a number of process and systems improvements projects they currently have in the pipeline.

This would suit an ambitious, experienced leader who is not afraid of change, and who is looking for a route to their first Finance Director role

As Financial Controller your duties will involve but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the production of timely and accurate monthly Management Accounts
  • Oversee the Annual Statutory Accounts preparation and audit pack
  • Ensure effective processes and controls for financial reporting and overall company controls
  • Form a key part of the company Management team and support the medium/long range business plans processes
  • Overseeing the business planning and forecasting process
  • Establishing and overseeing processes and tools to obtain transparent and reliable financial data and business information
  • Performing financial analysis, reporting to Directors and making suggestions to improve performance, where appropriate
  • Establishing cost structures, productivity optimisation and capital efficiency while closely monitoring cash flow and taking relevant actions to improve net working capital


The Successful Applicant

  • Qualified Accountant - ACCA / CIMA / ACCA
  • A strong leader who can step up into the Finance Director role in the mid-term future
  • A strong understanding of standard cost and manufacturing accounting
  • Experience of accounting for commodities would be beneficial
  • Advanced Excel Skills would be beneficial
  • Experience of an ERP implementation would be beneficial
