Project Manager Position (Permanent) // Up to £42k (though negotiable DoE) // Sunderland (Hybrid Working) Your new roleThe purpose of this post is to partner with the business to provide project management expertise for the Organisation's projects (Business and IT) including planning, change and stakeholder management. Bringing a structured, well-governed and organised approach to ensure on time delivery to agreed targets and objectives. Ensuring risks are proactively identified, escalated and resolved as part of project governance. The main functions and responsibilities are: Responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of both IT and Business projects adopting a user-centric approach and using agile methodology.Efficient project mobilisation in line with the Group's project management framework including:
  • Set up of project team
  • Clear project scoping
  • Risk management and escalation processes
  • Resource requirements
  • Financial assessment
  • Governance processes (including KPI and cost management)

Ongoing project management:
  • Project planning - what needs to be done, when and who
  • Risk identification and mitigation
  • Motivation of cross functional teams, ensuring close collaboration
  • Identification and management of interdependencies
  • Resource and capacity planning
  • Tracking against agreed project KPIs
  • Documentation of discussions and decision making, ensuring there is a clear audit trail
  • Project close down and lessons learned

Understands and deploys change management techniques such as change impact assessment, stakeholder management and communications planning.Provides advice, guidance and feedback in relation to project activity and support to the Project Lead and Sponsor, as needed. Embeds and facilitates a holistic approach through project governance and cross-business working.Contributes to and involved in the Organisation's portfolio management processes to ensure project oversight by the Project Board.Provides training and coaching as needed in relation to the Organisation's project and change management approach and tools.What you'll need to succeedThe job requirements are:
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of project management approaches (Business and IT) including planning, stakeholder management, risk management and governance, communications, change impact assessment
  • Demonstrable knowledge of change management philosophies and their practical application
  • The ability to facilitate and influence senior key stakeholders internal and external to the business
  • The ability to lead and bring together cross functional teams to achieve a common goal without a direct reporting relationship
  • The ability to identify and escalate risk - driving discussions within the business as needed
  • The ability to challenge others and have difficult conversations (including senior stakeholders) in a constructive and engaging manner
  • Clear understanding of the Business including Landlord Compliance and Regulatory challenges

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with a proven ability to influence senior stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Ability to deliver activity on time to tight deadlines in a fast paced and complex environment
  • IT skills / Windows 365 / Microsoft project
  • Ability to work autonomously

  • Experience of managing a range of complex projects - Business and IT with multiple workstreams
  • Experience of managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven experience of successful delivery of projects on time and achieving to project deliverables
  • Proven experience of delivering successful change management as part of project delivery
  • Experienced in developing and maintaining a positive team-working environment

Qualifications and Training:
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent)
  • A recognised project management or change management qualification or training (or equivalent experience)
