An award winning, entrepreneurial business based in central Hove location is seeking a diligent, committed, and ambitious Finance Manager to join them in a pivotal role for the business. This individual will work closely with the Managing Director / business owner on ensuring effective financial control and reporting for the business and play an integral part in the decision making process and driving the business forward. This is a unique, interesting business with an attractive consumer offering that many individuals will feel passionately about. It's experiencing good year on year growth and being recognised and rewarded within its industry.

The successful candidate will manage two Finance Assistants daily. They will be tasked with a variety of duties including full management accounts production and analysis for the Managing Director. As it is a small team, they will also be tasked with overseeing day to day transactional accounting duties, overseeing the Finance Assistant's work and delegating accordingly. This business has complex billing timescales and an internal database which is integrated into the accounts system. This individual must be someone who learns quickly and understands the importance of really getting to know a business 'from the bottom up'. This hands-on individual will become an expert on their product and operating procedures and be adept at effective time management, prioritisation and attention to detail. There is scope for progression to FD / CFO in the future.

Candidates need have relevant experience in a similar, all-encompassing Finance Manager role and be confident in their level of technical accounting abilities. This experience will have been built up within an SME environment. A relevant accounting qualification, such as CIMA, would also be valuable but good QBE individuals will also be considered.

Role description:
  • Manage, support, and develop the Finance Team, consisting of a Senior Finance Assistant and Finance Assistant
  • Update weekly sales reporting and cash flow forecast
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, providing detailed commentary and variance analysis to budget/forecast
  • Calculate monthly deferred revenue, accruals, and prepayments
  • Reconcile finance system to 3rd party software
  • Prepare payroll for submission to provider
  • Ownership of the budget and forecasting process
  • Continuously review and develop financial processes, systems, and controls
  • Complete monthly bank and other balance sheet reconciliations
  • Ad-hoc analysis of commercial opportunities and projects
  • Submission of industry specific returns and filings
  • Prepare and review Year End accounts for submission to external Statutory Accountants.
  • Support with Accounts Receivable/Payable during busy periods
