Job Purpose:

Powertrain NVH Engineer to lead Base Engine & Systems performance, direct commodity strategy from initial Concept through Launch. Lead issue mitigation, vehicle development and integration.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

A senior member of the NVH team, you will be responsible for leading Noise and Vibration development of powertrain base engine and systems with experience or awareness of the following:

Understanding of base engine NVH design guidelines, targets setting, analysis plus noise and vibration reduction techniques
Understanding of induction and exhaust system NVH fundamentals, analysis and tuning principals, vehicle integration and mitigation of vehicle issues. This will also include GT Power 1D analysis of powertrain contribution to exterior noise emissions and interior powertrain sound level
Demonstrate fundamental working knowledge of psychoacoustic principles and develop future hybrid and BEV sound scape
Support delivery of strategic powertrain sound quality strategy
Working closely with NVH colleagues while maintain a strong relationship with the powertrain commodity engineering teams
Deliver optimum engineering solutions with successful and timely issue resolution
Plan and manage internal and external test facility and resource
Support development and learning of junior engineers
Follow MISSION product creation process and ensure all required information and actions are completed according to agreed programme cost, time and quality contract The post holder will undertake other duties, e.g. supporting program launch teams, as may be required to achieve the Company's objectives, commensurate with the grading of the post. Qualification & Experience:

The candidate should be degree qualified, preferably with NVH content.
Previous experience in an NVH engineering role, being accountable for powertrain commodity NVH or system integration
A good understanding of design guidelines for NVH mitigation with successful and timely resolution of issues from benchmarking, targets setting through development, verification and manufacture
Knowledge of state of the art NVH development techniques and tools, including EV system integration
Ability to deliver cross platform strategies
Experience in Pass by noise development
Whole vehicle NVH performance assessment
Engine 1D simulation and physical development in support of vehicle NVH targets
Understanding of induction and exhaust NVH fundamentals, analysis and tuning principals, vehicle integration and mitigation of vehicle issues
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - we work with a lot of numbers, so you'll need to be comfortable manipulating and analysing data in our systems, including Head Acoustics ArtemiS Suite and Siemens Test.Lab
Working knowledge of problem solving process (e.g. PPS, 8D, 6 sigma)
Knowledge of MISSION or equivalent product creation process (AMPCS, GPDS, NPI)
