I am working with a leading magic circle law firm who are looking for an experience Change Manager to join their business on an initial 12-month engagement under a fixed term contract.
They are currently running a 7-year multi-stream Programme of works to deliver the future workspace for their London and their office in the Northeast (Combined 2500 employees).
The Programme combines a set of strategic activities that look at the building & location selection process, future space requirements, interior design of the new workspace, future ways of working within the new space, and all supporting technologies, processes and people policies that underpin this.
A Change Manager is required to help the office leaders prepare people for the new workplace, engage people throughout the change, and support workstream leads to identify and mitigate any change impacts on programme delivery. The Change Manager is responsible for developing and delivering the Change Strategy to ensure the smooth and timely delivery of the programme.
Stakeholders and Partners
You will work within the core programme team reporting to the Programme Manager and working closely with the Programme Support Office and Sub-Programme leads. You will be responsible for managing a change network and will need to work with and manage a diverse range of stakeholders across the business.
You will also engage with senior stakeholders and programme sponsors to gain support for the change strategy and ensure people risks and issues are mitigated.
The role will require you to work closely with the communication lead and the internal communications team to understand wider communication challenges (outside the programme) as well as how communications are structured and delivered in the firm.
Focus on the people side of change, and encourage adoption of new working practices, new systems and technology.
Implementing change management strategies, working with the communications lead to drive faster employee adoption and minimise resistance to the changes being introduced.
Design, develop and implement change management strategies and plans in support of the Workspace Transformation Change Management programme
Manage the execution of activities related to workspace transformation change management and end user readiness
Manage resolution of potential transformation obstacles
Perform/assess Stakeholder and change impact analysis identifying potential project impacts/risks
Complete overall change readiness assessment
Identify and anticipate challenges and/or resistance; develop risk mitigation plans to address
Lead initiatives to develop employees' understanding and acceptance of impacts on specific job roles, policies, technology impacts and business practices
Design, develop and implement benefit realisation plans in support of the programme
Guide communications to ensure all elements related to the programme are being appropriately communicated to the office and wider firm
Align external communications with the internal activities
Design, develop and implement strategies to mitigate impacts of information leaks
Ensure consistent presentation of the project in all media, including presentations, intranet, briefing notes, surveys, press releases etc.
Coordinate the change network responsible for communicating the change across the office
Facilitate meetings, deliver presentations as required
Support all training efforts - provide input, document requirements and support the design and delivery of training programs.
Set up a change network utilising internal resources to support the implementation of the change strategy
Ensure the effectiveness of change network assigned to the sub-programmes and/or projects and ensure a consistent approach.
Work closely with the programme team to ensure change management is embedded in the decision-making process across the programme.
Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with key stakeholders at multiple levels
Ensure timely and high-quality deliverables from a change management perspective
Develop a detailed Change Management plan and work with the wider team to ensure alignment into the overall programme plan
Manages the change network to the plan and timeline
Identify, track, report and resolve issues
Work with other programme leads to ensure integration across teams
Provide regular updates to Programme Manager and other Stakeholders as requestedSkills, Knowledge and Experience
Legal and/or Professional services experience highly desirable
Solid experience in leading change within a workplace transformation programme, including workspace reduction and movement to activity-based working.
Significant change management experience in professional services and across a range of other related industries.
Strong presentation, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas in easy to understand business terms to all levels of management including senior leaders
Ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities with high attention to detail
Possesses strong analytical skills, good listening skills with ability to effectively coach and mentor others; must be able to lead by influence
Exhibits effective team skills
Accreditation in executing change management strategies is preferred
Familiarity with project and programme management approaches, tools and methodologies
