We are currently working with a highly prestigious client who is looking to appoint a Head of Nursing (Cancer Services) to join their Senior Leadership Team, and lead their Oncology, Haematology & Stem Cell Transplantation services.
The Head of Nursing will oversee the Cancer Services function of approx. 80+ staff and ensure a high quality and the safe delivery of oncology and haematology services. Through strong clinical leadership you will support the Ward and Departmental Sisters/Charge Nurses to promote excellence in nursing to maintain and improve clinical standards and develop our business.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide managerial and professional leadership and be responsible and accountable for the delivery of high quality, safe patient centred cancer care across the Clinic that meets the needs of patients and their families.
Responsible for the direct line management of the Senior nurse team, providing strong leadership, as well as supporting/coaching the development of staff through close collaboration with the education team.
Building strong relationship with the Consultants and medical teams, promoting quality improvement, and working together on the development of new services.
Work closely with the Director of Nursing, other Heads of Nursing, and other Executive Directors, in the on-going evaluation and review of the delivery of cancer services.
Ensure that the operational and strategic practice of Cancer Services is regularly communicated throughout the Clinic, and that appropriate consultation takes place when significant change is required.
Skills & Experience
Registered General Nurse with valid NMC registration.
A proven track record of operational service management at a senior level in an acute hospital environment, including staff management and financial management.
Broad Oncology and/or Haematology based clinical experience.
Experience of leading the implementation of service improvements including complex change management programs at a management level.
Well-developed leadership and influencing skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve individuals and teams, and ensure they understand the Clinic's and your performance expectations.
Highly motivated and confident individual who possesses excellent communication and relationship building skills, as well as strong problem-solving acumen.
In-line with Government legislation, From 1 April 2022 it will be a legal requirement for you to provide evidence of your COVID-19 vaccination status or an exemption certificate to work for a healthcare organisation.
