12 Month, Full Time Contract (39 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, all school holidays paid. Shift patterns to be agreed )

Our client is an 'Outstanding' school in Surrey, rated as outstanding for eleven years and are part of a leading children's communications charity. They are located between Woking and Chertsey in delightful grounds close to Runnymede which is an inspiring setting to work in. They are a multi-disciplinary team that includes Teachers, Learning Support Assistants, Speech and Language Therapists, and Occupational Therapists who all offer our pupils a fully integrated approach to their children's education, communication skills and overall health and well-being. The school also has an Assessment Centre, Residential Service and a Family Support Worker.
They are looking for a Deputy Residential and Medical Manager to join their amazing school. Working with the residential manager you will have the skills, knowledge and drive to support the residential team to continually develop the residential curriculum, working collaboratively with Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Teachers and Learning Support Assistants to enable all their children become independent.
In the absence of the Residential Manager, the Deputy will be responsible for all aspects of the residential department creating a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment. You will lead the residential staff to develop and run activities that are fun, whilst supporting skill development, ensuring the quality of care is maintained across all shifts. You must have the ability to discriminate effectively between those decisions which can be deferred and those which need immediate attention.
It will be key to keep up to date with Residential Special School National Minimum Care Standards, Social Care Inspection Framework and Safeguarding developments locally and nationally. Promotion of Good Child Care Practice It is vital that their young people receive an outstanding level of care. Ensuring that Safeguarding is 'Outstanding' within the residential provision. Day to day supervision and guidance of staff regarding standards of care in line with the National Minimum Care Standards for Residential Special Schools and the wider implications of guidelines, procedures, instructions and policies.
Being part of their Residential Team requires that you demonstrate good child practices in your own direct work with children to provide a model for other staff members. You will attend and be directly involved in reviews, meetings, or attend any meetings in the absence of the Residential Care Manager. You will need to have good English skills and be able to compile written reports as well as setting and monitoring targets. You will help other staff to compile reports and encourage them to involve the children in reviews. A key part of your role will be to actively seek the views and opinions of children and provide a platform for pupil voice in line with their preferred method of communication. Ensure that all pupils engage and make progress through a personalised curriculum. You will be competent in computer use.
